Why I Write

When you manage to stick to a hobby for more than a couple of years, you know it is here to stay for a long long time.

2016 was the year I started blogging. I took the step on a whim without much thought, and it has been a beautiful journey ever since.

I’m overjoyed to celebrate five years of being a blogger today. It makes my heart swell with pride on seeing how far I have come.

This blog post is a super light one about why I write. What is it that makes this act of writing so dear to me?

Quoting my favourite author, Ruskin Bond, “Writing, for me, is the simplest and greatest pleasure in the world.”

Writing is my safe space, my escape. It is my way of expressing myself. Most importantly, it is a means of learning to me. Observing and collecting my thoughts and putting it down in words brings me so much of joy and peace.

Of course there are days when I sit down to write but words don’t come to me. It makes me feel incomplete, as if I’ve missed doing an essential routine activity.

Over the course of my five years in blogging, I’ve learnt timeless lessons on life, art and writing. It has taught me lessons on persistence, discipline, creativity, humility, and a lot more.

Writing makes me feel confident and appreciative towards myself. It makes me value my self-worth more and has inculcated the attitude of “never-give-up” in me.

It has made me listen to my inner voice and has brought a lot of clarity in my thoughts. To be able to clearly express thoughts and emotions is a strength, and I’m fortunate to have that ability.

I attribute my writing skills to reading tons of books. A writer is first a reader and I’m no different. Reading allows me to explore different writers and their thoughts, emulate their thought-process and bring out my unique style.

I hope to continue writing and reaching more milestones in future. A big thank you to each of my readers for faithfully reading my posts and responding with your thoughts and opinions. They truly mean the world to me.

Until next time, stay blessed. 😇

  3. Reading is Life itself. Writers are the conscience keepers of the World. They open up vistas that the readers didn’t know existed. Without writers, we wither into pale imitations of ourselves, hollow and soulless.
Congratulations on completing 5 years of soulful writing.
May your nib never run dry!

  4. Congratulations on completing 5 years of thought provoking and soulful writing. Iam sure, you are on the road to becoming a fine & thoughtful writer who can pen down simple life experiences in the most effective, & can produce the right impact on the reader. Obviously, you put your heart & soul in your writings which a careful reader can easily perceive & feel as though the writer is communicating personally with him/ her. Your special ability is that you pick up very simple things in life and elaborately & interestingly write about it, presenting it to the reader in the most palatable form. The ability to write extensively on simple things shows that you are well read, well informed & a good thinker. Good writing & writing good are two different entities and you are beginning to master both.
Here, iam wishing you all the best
, continue writing & enlighten your readers .
