The Bespectacled Girl Through My Lenses (TBG #10)

Hey, what’s up!

It’s finally my turn to speak.

Especially because I’m the one who’s been closest to The Bespectacled Girl all along.

Quite literally.

I happen to be a permanent fixture on the bridge of her nose..

Yep, I’m her spectacles.

Oh, and it’s not just me. There are several of us.

Apparently, collecting spectacles is yet another one of her hobbies. Of varied designs and colours. As if books, stationery, and plants weren’t enough.

She thinks each outfit deserves a different pair.

At this point, I’ve stopped questioning her.

She does what she wants anyway. Who am I to tell her otherwise?

Anyway, things apart, my fellow spectacles and I have had front-row seats to her life for years.

We have watched her carry her entire life in her tote bag.

We have survived her culinary experiments, although we ended up covered in flour.

We have watched her buy enough stationery to open a small shop.

We have witnessed her fingers type as if they have a mind of their own.

We have stayed awake through countless late-night reading sessions.

We have watched her colour-code almost every aspect of her life.

We have been spectators to her athletic wear shopping sprees.

We have been drenched with her tears during plant funerals.

We have watched her create playlists for moods that exist only once in a blue moon.

People assume that my job is to help The Bespectacled Girl see the world.

The truth is, I’ve spent years watching how she sees it.

She collects hobbies. She notices little things. She romanticises ordinary days.
She finds magic in the things that most people seldom notice.

People may call her quirky and whimsical. I call her unapologetically herself.

She doesn’t try to fit into the version of herself the world expects her to be. She simply keeps choosing the things that make her heart happy.

And somehow, those little things have become who she is.

In fact, if you look closely, you may have already met The Bespectacled Girl.

Maybe she sits beside you at work. Maybe she lives across the road. Maybe you crossed paths with her for a brief moment at the airport.

Or maybe you recognised that you carry a little bit of her yourself.

As for me…

I’ll continue sitting quietly on the bridge of her nose.

Watching another book being opened.

Another playlist being made.

Another dream being chased.

And another ordinary day becoming something worth remembering.

After all, I think, her spectacles knew her the best.

The End.

… for now.

  1. Funny but reality, even I have few sets of spectacles in my collection. The one which has a beautiful look for outings, outstation vacation, and one in the bedroom, one in the kitchen ( which always has spots of masala or some spots of turmeric powder, and if I dip this spectacles in water, I am sure it comes out to be a wonderful gravy item😂😂😂).

    Loved this series.
    Looking forward for many more.
